Happiness and achievement go hand in hand. At Stamford, an essential part of school life is fostering a caring community where students feel valued, supported, and excited to come to school each day. Social-emotional skills are foundational to student well-being and to building a strong culture of care. We are committed to nurturing age-appropriate life skills while strengthening meaningful relationships among students, teachers, peers, and families. Research consistently shows that students with higher levels of emotional well-being demonstrate greater engagement and stronger academic achievement—both now and in their future studies.
Guided by Stamford’s team of full-time, in-house counselors and support specialists, our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program utilizes the Wayfinder curriculum. Wayfinder’s future-ready skills framework is thoughtfully integrated into advisory periods, morning meetings, and academic classes, ensuring that social-emotional growth is embedded throughout the school experience.
The Six Core Skills for Future-Ready Students developed through Wayfinder include Purpose, Self-Awareness, Agency, Collaboration, Empathy, and Adaptability—essential competencies that prepare students to thrive in school and beyond.
